Planting for Wildlife & Leaving the Leaves

FRANKLIN, Kan. — The Miners Hall Museum will host a special program entitled “Planting for Wildlife & Leaving the Leaves” on Sunday, September 21 at 2 p.m. This special program will be presented by Jennifer Rader, Southeast Kansas Nature Center Director from Galena, to discuss plants that help attract wildlife, but focus on leaving the leaves, or leaving standing vegetation in our gardens/yards to help make food sources and safe havens for overwintering species such as birds, bats, bugs and more. Her presentation will include a power point and resources that can help you plan little spaces in your own yard, and possibly a critter or two.
