PITTSBURG, Kan. — Mayor Cheryl Brooks hosted a community engagement event at Memorial Auditorium Wednesday evening with area tradesmen and contractors to discuss a transition to a new software program the city is adopting to file and register building permits. “Each month, a member of the city commission is challenged with hosting a community engagement event,” said Mayor Brooks. “May was my month, so I decided to do this.” A long-time resident of Pittsburg, Brooks and her husband, a third-generation plumber, own and operate Brooks Plumbing LLC.
