PITTSBURG, Kan. — Freeman Hospital President and CEO Paula Baker announced Wednesday morning that Freeman Health Systems will be expanding services in Pittsburg with the construction of a new state-of-the-art hospital. According to Baker, a Pittsburg native, the new 170,000 square foot building will include 50 beds and create between 500 to 1,000 new jobs. The final site of the hospital is yet to be determined, but the $168 million facility will include all known safety features—from viruses to tornados—and is designed with future expansion in mind.
