Born in Miami, this Oklahoma native was raised in Columbus where she had a “truly wonderful” childhood filled with family and friends and many fond memories of family get togethers, holidays, and birthdays with her two older sisters. “In all honesty,” admits Lackamp, “I have sweeter memories than my sisters as I was probably a nuisance.” Within her circle of friends, young Leslie did all those small-town things –– riding bikes, swimming, watching movies, roller skating. Later it was school dances, church functions, and “dragging the gut” in Pittsburg.
