PITTSBURG, Kan. — On Friday, parents and select community members were invited to become citizens in Lakeside Elementary’s 8th annual Just Imagine Kansas, a day when fourth grade students see what it takes to run a state for a day. As part of their social studies education, Lakeside’s fourth graders were tasked to do research on Kansas businesses and compare them to similar businesses in other regions. After the research, they chose to “apply” for jobs from a list of businesses that agreed to participate in the project by either donating money or donating products for the kids to “sell” at their booth or business.
