Frontenac denies license for trash service

FRONTENAC, Kan. –– The Frontenac City Council may have dealt a serious blow to CARDS Recycling Wednesday night when it voted unanimously to deny the company’s request for a business license. City Administrator John Zafuta said the company did not have a license to operate in the city to begin with but just took over existing accounts. According to Mayor Steve Morrison, Wednesday’s request gave the council the opportunity it needed to deny a license to a company “that’s just not very good.” In July of 2024, the company came under investigation by the Missouri Attorney General's office because of a significant number of complaints filed with the Better Business Bureau regarding issues like service not being rendered and billing discrepancies; the BBB has also noted a pattern of complaints against the company.
