On Sunday, members of the Friends of Crawford State Park as well as family and friends of Marlene Smith, a Farlington native who died on June 15, gathered at the Butterfly Garden on the east end of Farlington Lake to honor Smith on her birthday. Smith was one of the garden’s original establishers and the family organized the workday in her memory. After giving the garden some much needed tender loving care, the volunteers retired to Smith’s husband, Kevin’s, house for hot dogs.
