PITTSBURG, Kan. — On Saturday night, a house fire occurred on East Forest Street, according to the Pittsburg Fire Department.

The fire department reported that at approximately 10:30 p.m., Aug. 29, fire crews were dispatched to the 300 block of East Forest Street. Once on scene, firefighters observed flames coming from the exterior.

Crews entered the home to extinguish the fire and search for occupants. Later, the homeowner and resident arrived on scene and confirmed the house was unoccupied when the fire started.

The fire was under control in roughly 30 minutes, but crews remained on scene to extinguish hot spots. Evergy and Kansas Gas Service were contacted to disconnect utilities. The American Red Cross responded to assist the residents.

According to the fire department, no civilian injuries were reported and the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
