PITTSBURG, Kan. — A fire occurred early Sunday, and no injuries were reported. According to the Pittsburg Fire Department, at approximately 5:26 a.m. on July 5, the Pittsburg Fire Department responded to a structure fire in the 500 block of East 24th Street. Upon arrival, fire crews found a residential structure heavily involved in fire, and firefighters initiated fire suppression operations and brought the fire under control. The resident was not home at the time of the fire, and no injuries were reported. The American Red Cross responded to assist the resident with immediate needs following the fire. The Kansas State Fire Marshal’s Office is assisting with the investigation. Due to the extent of the damage, the cause of the fire remains undetermined currently. However, officials said fireworks are not suspected to have been the source of the fire.
