GIRARD, Kan. — In a special work session Friday, county commissioners and 911 dispatchers from the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office and the City of Pittsburg heard a presentation about a new 911 system being introduced throughout the State of Kansas. Scott Ekberg, administrator for the Next Generation 911 system (NG911), described the costs, benefits, and new capabilities of the NG911 system. As of October 2021, all but a handful of counties in Kansas have transitioned to the new system.
