GIRARD, Kan. — With temperatures forecasted to remain above 100 degrees for the next week, several communities in Crawford County have designated “cooling off areas” open to the public should residents have issues with their air conditioning or just need to stop in during errands. Pittsburg Library, 308 N. Walnut St., will be open from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday; and from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday.
