PITTSBURG, Kan. — Pittsburg city commissioners and staff spent the better part of two hours, Tuesday evening, discussing further reductions in the 2027 budget mill levy. Last year’s final mill levy topped out at 52.006, which generated a $200,000 overage in tax revenues based on an accounting mistake that didn’t subtract certain tax-exempt properties. This mistake raised the approved levy by 1.152 mills to compensate.
