FRONTENAC, Kan. — Paul Keys, a member of the Guardians of the Children, appeared before the Frontenac City Council on Monday evening to appeal for street closures downtown on Saturday, Aug. 27 as part of a motorcycle “dice run.” According to Keys, Guardians of the Children is a non-profit organization that advocates for abused children and is funded entirely by charitable donations with very little overhead cost. “Even our lawyer is a member of the group, so he doesn’t get paid,” said Keys. Keys said registration will begin at 9 a.m. in front of Pickled Pete's with festivities beginning with a blessing of the bikes at 10:45 a.m. At 11 a.m., the riders are “kickstands up” and riding through southeast Kansas, returning by 6 p.m. “Downtown Frontenac is a great little town,” said Keys.
