ARMA, Kan. — In honor of the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II, banners of local veterans will be hung in downtown Arma for the annual Arma Homecoming Aug. 7 through Aug. 10. Arma Homecomng is a tradition that first began in 1947 to commemorate the unofficial announcement that Imperial Japan had agreed to the terms of surrender. As the years progressed, it became an event to honor all veterans, not just those who served in WWII.
