ARMA, Kan. — Residents of the Arma are continuing to use the Arma Community Garden and Arma City Library Food Pantry through the summer months, evident following an update from Arma City Library Director Shelley Corley at Monday night’s city council meeting. In 2018, the Arma Nutrition Council was established with the assistance of Live Well Crawford County with the objective of combating food insecurity in the town of Arma, whose closest grocery store is more than eight miles away in Pittsburg following the closure of the Arma Supermarket around 2014. Live Well launched a crowdfunding campaign raising $9,400 in less than one month to establish the Arma Community Garden and the Arma City Library Food Pantry.
