Excerpted stories in Crawford County newspaper archives 100 Years Ago Feb. 24-26, 1924 Six county prisoners were put to work yesterday under a decision of the county commissioners to try working them. The men were in custody of a deputy sheriff and engaged in unloading chat and spreading it along the road near Edison, to complete shoulders on each side of the payment. Oscar Ward, Charles Kurtz and W. H. Van Hoozer, county commissioners, took an inspection trip and Ward said last night the men did good work.
