Excerpted stories in Crawford County newspaper archives 100 Years Ago May 18-20, 1924 Two hundred citizens – members of the Rotary, Lions and Kiwanis clubs, and visiting officials of the Kansas City Southern railroad – were luncheon guests of the railway company today in the blacksmith building of the shops. Expressions of faith in the future of the road and of Pittsburg were made by the various speakers on the program at which Bruce Cameron, the president of the Rotary club, presided. A resolution was passed by the newly formed Liberal party of Kansas commending Pittsburg's Alex Howat, deposed president of the state’s United Mine Workers for his stance against the industrial court law.
