Excerpted stories in Crawford County newspaper archives 100 Years Ago July 1-4, 1923 The quietest weekend experienced by the sheriff's office in several weeks passed with only one arrest made, and that for intoxication. The officers spent most of the time patrolling the hard surface highways of the county, on the outlook for speeders but all motorists seemed inclined to keep well within the law rather than take chances of contributing $25 and costs to the county for the privilege of fast driving. Two stills and a quantity of whiskey and mash were found in a raid last night at Capaldo by Sheriff John Turkington, Undersheriff Ross Janes and County Attorney C. A. Burnett.
