Excerpted stories in Crawford County newspaper archives 100 Years Ago May 29, 1924 A $10 note on the “Associated Banks of Pittsburg," received at the First National bank here from San Francisco, is the most recent of about 25 of these notes cashed all over North America. The notes originated in the 1907 financial panic following the example of nearly all banks over the country. The notes were stored in a vault here but in 1921 and 1922 one package of the certificates was stolen.
