From Our History Renown violinist awes crowds at Carney Hall Excerpted stories in Crawford County newspaper archives 100 Years Ago April 27, 1923 Anna Case, noted American soprano, in a concert recital last night in Carney hall at the college, won a popular triumph, permanently barricading herself in the hearts of 1,600 persons fortunate enough to hear the great prima donna. Even Galli-Curci did not find greater favor than did Anna Case, who was brought back for seven encores during the all too short program, and was greeted repeatedly with storms of enthusiastic applause. An increase in pay of 50 cents a day for all classes of factory workers and clay miners in eight plants of the Dickey Manufacturing company was announced at Kansas City late yesterday.
