Excerpted stories in Crawford County newspaper archives 100 years ago Aug 7, 1925 Among eleven counties checked over this week by the census bureau at Topeka, Crawford County stood out head and shoulders above the rest in point of interesting facts disclosed in information gathered by the census takers. When the census bureau’s spotlight was played upon Crawford County, it found, among other things, that within the county’s four borders there are two centenarians, both living in Pittsburg. Mrs. Judida Caldwell, 720 West Kansas Avenue, was found to be the county’s oldest resident, the census taker having reported her as passing her 105th birthday.
