Excerpted stories in Crawford County newspaper archives 100 Years Ago March 6, 1924 Petitions for chat roads are coming in faster than the county commissioners can handle, Oscar Ward, commission chairman, said last night. A new petition was filed for a chat road extending east from the cemetery in the German settlement, and two miles north connecting with the Quincy Road. It will cost $24,000 to patch the roads damaged by recent bad weather, Mr. Ward said., and the county will have no more roads than before.
