Excerpted stories in Crawford County newspaper archives 100 Years Ago March 16-18, 1924 The W. H. Schwartz Drilling Co. "spudded in" at 2:30 this afternoon on the city's new well, located on Pine Street just north of Seventh, on the yard surrounding the water plant. The contract with the drilling company calls for a well 1,420 feet deep. It is estimated that between 40 and 60 days, barring any other than minor setbacks, will be required for the completion of the work.
