This week’s 1957 picture from “Images of Pittsburg” by Randy Roberts and Janette Mauk has a caption that points out the Hotel Besse towering over downtown Pittsburg and a KOAM Radio sign prominently displayed on the Commercial Building. Other businesses (some of which you might need your magnifying glass to see in the print edition, or need to zoom in on your device to make out) include on the right: PITTCRAFT (with a hand-painted Walldog Town Talk Bread advertisement on the building’s side), Taylor Paint and Wallpaper, Simion Insurance and The Palace. On the left is a corner of the old YMCA, American Legion and Helen Maltez Insurance.
