Excerpted stories in Crawford County newspaper archives 100 Years Ago Aug. 9, 1924 Several Kansas locals of the United Mine Workers are sending nominations of their deposed district president Alexander Howat for international president to the union's headquarters in Indianapolis. The election does not occur until December. The report is that Howat's followers in the district will again favor his election for district president in event that the international board holds he is not eligible for international office.
