The Chanute Blue Comets pulled away in the second half as the Girard Trojans suffered defeat for the first time this season, falling 49-37 on Tuesday night in Girard. “That’s the best defensive team we’ve seen,” Girard head coach Rod Wescott said. “They get out and get after you and they did a really good job of taking away some of the things we wanted to do.” Chanute (3-0) jumped out to an 11-2 lead in the first quarter, forcing an early Trojan timeout.
