James C. Foley, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend, passed away peacefully on Oct. 18, 2026. He was born March 23, 1936, in Mulberry, Kansas, to Bill and Elda, who, along with his beloved sister, Billie Sue, preceded him in death. Jim lived a life marked by faith, service, laughter, and love for family and friends.
Jim proudly served his country in the United States Navy, beginning his military career at a young age retiring as a Chief Petty Officer. During his distinguished service, he worked as an air traffic controller and was deployed in multiple locations around the world retiring in Lemoore, California. Following his retirement from the Navy, Jim worked as a collator operator at FMC in Girard, Kansas.
On June 21, 1980, Jim married Paula Price, in Hanford, California. Together, they built a life filled with love, adventures, and memories. He is survived by his wife, Paula; his children, Steve (Diana) Foley, Bob (Lori) Foley, Kristi (Paul) Rocha, and Pam (Terry) Darner; his first wife, Shirley Will and many cousins. His legacy continues through his eight grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren, who will carry his stories and values into future generations.
A man of deep and abiding faith, Jim was a devoted member of Trinity Baptist Church. His heart for helping others extended well beyond the church, as he volunteered alongside Paula with SEK Disaster Relief and Beautiful Feet Ministries. He also served as a compassionate driver for Mt. Carmel’s CareVan, helping ensure that individuals without reliable transportation could access essential healthcare. Through these acts of kindness, Jim demonstrated his belief in the importance of caring for others and serving those in need.
Outside of his work, Jim was an avid fisherman, hunter, and skilled sharpshooter, he took great pride in his impressive gun collection and was a longtime member of Bone Creek Gun Club. But perhaps his greatest gift was his ability to make others smile. Known for his generosity, colorful storytelling, and infectious sense of humor, Jim had a special talent for bringing joy wherever he went. As Sox the Clown, he delighted audiences with his magic, humor, and playful spirit, leaving behind countless smiles and happy memories.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Tunnels to Towers, Trinity Baptist Church, or Harry Hynes Hospice. The family extends heartfelt gratitude to Harry Hynes Hospice and Trinity Baptist Church for their kindness, compassion, and care during this time.
Jim’s life was a beautiful example of faith in action, love freely given, service to others, and the
healing power of laughter. Though he will be deeply missed, the memories he created, the lives he brightened, and the love he shared will live on in all who knew him. His legacy of love, faith, service, and laughter will forever remain in the hearts of those he leaves behind.
