PITTSBURG, Kan. –– The pitter-patter of young feet will soon echo through the halls of the Washington School as its transformation into a childcare nears completion. First built in 1887, the original three-story building was replaced by the current structure in 1937 and served as an elementary school until 1980, then as an adult education center, and finally, a storage facility. In August 2023, the building was purchased by Point Forward, a local non-profit, with the intention of giving the building a new lease on life as a childcare facility.
