GIRARD, Kan. — Ever since the COVID-19 pandemic made clear that a lack of child care was a major problem both locally and statewide, several area organizations have been competing for federal dollars that are being made available to help expand access to such services. One recent development in this fight for funding is that a newly established childcare organization that is looking to get off the ground, called New Foundations, has decided to pool its resources and join forces with a local business, Sugar Creek Packing, to build a new facility in Frontenac. Both organizations met with the Crawford County Commission for a work session on Friday.
