PITTSBURG, Kan. — The City of Pittsburg is inviting area businesses to sign up to be a part of the Small Business Saturday Passport event on Nov. 28.
For the past 15 years, the Saturday after Thanksgiving has been known as the day to shop and support small businesses in communities across the nation.
Pittsburg’s passport event encourages area residents and visitors to purchase items in local businesses. After making a purchase at one of the businesses involved, shoppers get a stamp in their passport. Once they have made a certain number of purchases at different businesses, they can turn in their passport and be entered to win prizes.
Community Development Specialist Bethany Kendrick said Small Business Saturday is a great time to offer discounts or host a special event or activity.
According to Kendrick, in 2025, more than 5,000 people came to Pittsburg to shop on Small Business Saturday.
To participate in the passport event, fill out the business registration form at https://form.jotform.com/233024948500047. This is open to all area businesses.
“This is a simple and fun way for all our small businesses to celebrate the season and bring customers to their locations,” Kendrick said in an email.
