Music talents on display the next two weeks

PITTSBURG, Kan. — This week and next, Pittsburg High School’s music students, both vocal and instrumental, will showcase their talents for the community in a number of events.

Pittsburg Community Middle School Choir will perform at 6 p.m. Tuesday, May 5, in the Pittsburg Community Middle School Auditorium located at 1310 N. Broadway.

On Wednesday, May 6, the Spring Choir Concert will kick off at 7 p.m. at the Pittsburg Community Middle School Auditorium. The program is presented by Director Susan Laushman and Assistant Director Breana Clark. The group will sing 11 songs including one medley mashup. The songs featured each received a “I,” the highest rating, at the state competition. Seniors who will be recognized for all their accomplishments during the program are Norlan Aguilar, Allie Alison, Kadence Burns, TJ Casper, Lauren Crawford, Eddie Darling, Liam Diamond, Kayanna Emery, Sydney Ewing, Zoe Goode, Austina Hawkins, Faith Kimzey, Issac Mack, Angie Morgan, Kimberly Northcutt, Jocelyn Ouellette, Anna Ozbun, Grace Rogers, Korey Ross, Savannah Shires, Jonathan Sipaque de Leon, Desdemona Swepston and Peyton Thornton.

Starting Friday, the middle school and high school will highlight the band students under the direction of Cooper Neil.

Pittsburg High School Jazz will perform with Multifarious Trio at 7 p.m. Friday, May 8, at The dRink Yard, located at 211 N. Broadway.

The Pittsburg Community Middle School Bands will play Tuesday, May 12, starting at 6 p.m. in the Pittsburg High School Gym.

Concerts will conclude with the Pittsburg High School Band at 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 13, in the Pittsburg High School Auditorium.
