FRANKLIN, Kan. — After eight years of saving and applying for grants, the board of trustees of Miners Hall Museum announced Friday they had received enough money to relocate a historic mining machine, a Page 618 Walking Dragline, to the northeast corner of highways US-69 and K-47, also known as Ginardi’s corner, just south of the museum. Similar to how Big Brutus near West Mineral is the largest remaining electric shovel in the world, this Page 618 Walking Dragline is one of just two of its kind left in existence. Only 18 of these machines were made in the early 1900s.
