Bullet casings can be seen flying into the air as seven members of the George C. Brown American Legion Post 26 fire a three-volley rifle salute at the Girard Cemetery on Memorial Day. As part of the ceremony, members of the American Legion, American Legion Auxiliary, and Sons of the Legion honored servicemen who have died, offering the gun salute and remarks while placing a wreath underneath the veteran monument. Following the ceremony at the cemetery, members and community members made their way to the “giant flag” next to the American Legion along Hwy. 47, honoring additional veterans at their monument underneath the flag.
