PITTSBURG, Kan. — During the celebration of the city’s 150th year, it is time to mark the anniversary of one of the more significant events in that history — the Russ Hall Fire in 1913. For more than a century, the university has become a focal point of life in and around Pittsburg . . . and it almost didn’t happen.
