PITTSBURG, Kan. — McCarthy’s Pub owner Bryan Hanson approached the Pittsburg City Commission Monday night during public comments to point out what he sees as an inconsistency in a pair of city ordinances that affect his place of business. The ordinances in question forbid anyone under 21 years of age from entering his and many other establishments in an attempt to curb underage drinking. A second ordinance, however, allows minors to patronize outside venues where alcoholic beverages may be served.
