GIRARD, Kan. — Crawford County Sheriff Danny Smith appeared before the Crawford County Commission on Friday to summarize his department’s efforts to curb the growing usage of fentanyl across the nation and the state. Over the past few weeks, Sheriff Smith has been appearing in public safety announcements on KOAM-TV, a local television station. Smith said his deputies have been trained to carry Narcan, a drug that reverses the effects of an overdose and he intends to put such kits in every school in the county including the Pittsburg State University campus.
