PITTSBURG, Kan. — Josh and Meg Smeed, owners of Oakwood Homes in Chanute, met with city officials on Thursday to discuss expanding their business into Pittsburg. “Not enough housing is the major barrier holding back Pittsburg from its growth potential, and builders, especially framers, are the most scarce resource.” said Deputy City Manager Jay Byers. Established in 2022, Oakwood Homes fields a crew of five carpenters and has been primarily focused on remodeling homes in the Chanute area.
