Arrests increase for PD, decrease for CCSO

PITTSBURG, Kan. — The Pittsburg Police Department experienced an uptick in arrests last week compared to the previous week, while the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office arrested fewer individuals.

From April 26 to May 2, the Crawford County Sheriff’s Department arrested six individuals, a 60 percent decrease compared to the previous week. Charges for arrests included theft of property or services, possession of drugs and paraphernalia, and others, according to the Crawford County Inmate Roster.

The sheriff’s office also responded to 293 calls for service, conducted 97 traffic stops assisted 30 motorists or community members and took 30 reports.

From April 27 to May 3, the Pittsburg Police Department arrested 20 individuals, an 82 percent increase compared to the previous week. Charges for arrests included disorderly conduct, criminal possession of a weapon by a convicted felon, domestic battery and others, according to the Crawford County Inmate Roster.

The police department also responded to 331 calls for service, conducted 60 traffic stops, engaged in 191 self-initiated activities, arrested 20 individuals and took 69 reports.

The Pittsburg Fire Department responded to 46 calls for service from April 26 to May 2. Of the 46 calls, 31 were medical-related, 14 were fire-related and one was a motor vehicle accident.
