Excerpted stories in Crawford County newspaper archives 100 Years Ago Dec. 14, 1923 A break in current supply by the Empire District Electric Co. to the Joplin & Pittsburg Railway Co. brought traffic on the interurban to a standstill for almost two hours this morning. The break occurred just before 8 o’clock, when transportation demands were urgent on account of the large number of persons going from their homes to schools, stores and offices. It also caught jurors, attorneys and witnesses on their way to the district court in Pittsburg.
