PITTSBURG, Kan. — On a beautiful Saturday afternoon, U.S. Navy veteran Wayne Reinhart received a Quilt of Valor in a short ceremony at the Pittsburg State Veterans’ Memorial for his service during the Vietnam War. Serving from 1971 to 1975, Fredonia-native Reinhart was, at first, assigned to a hospital ship for the first few months in the Navy. When given the choice to stay aboard the hospital ship – which was easy duty, according to Reinhart – or be transferred, Reinhart chose to transfer, saying he didn’t join the Navy to sail up and down the west coast.
