100 Years Ago Dec. 27, 1922 A dry celebration of the new year is in prospect for Crawford county, as Willis A. Buck of Cherokee, Roscoe Lawler of Girard and R. V. Higgins of Pittsburg will be working as federal prohibition enforcement agents under George H. Wark, state director. Buck, Lawler and Higgins are to remain in the vicinity until Jan. 1, locating hooch and its vendors and prosecuting bootleggers who may attempt to do a heavy business for the benefit of New Year's celebrators. At almost the 11th hour, the railroads passing through the county paid their first half of taxes on their property at the county treasurer's office in Girard.
