Excerpted stories in Crawford County newspaper archives 100 Years Ago Sept. 6, 1923 Rolla McKinney, five times tried for first degree murder for the slaying while drinking of Lee Duff in the Morgan camp, a mile and three quarters southwest of Minden on Nov. 26, 1921, and whose fate was three times in a jury’s hands, is to be freed by dismissal of the case at the present term of Barton County circuit court in Lamar. Each of the juries failed to reach a verdict, although Mrs. Alf Dainty swore she saw McKinney slay Duff. A. Corbin, janitor displaced by the newly elected Mulberry board of education, was arrested yesterday for disturbing the peace by being boisterous before a group of children and arraigned before Justice Charles Fowler.
