Excerpted stories in Crawford County newspaper archives 100 years ago September 23, 1925 Word received here today by Sheriff J. D. Turkington from the chief of detectives at Joplin that an Elgin gold watch stolen here the night of Aug. 5 from Frank Tannehill, has been located in a Joplin pawn shop. The watch was a part of the loot taken in a burglary of the Tannehill home. Members of the sheriff's force went to Joplin to investigate and to trace, if possible, the person who pawned the watch.
