Excerpted stories in Crawford County newspaper archives 100 Years Ago Aug. 11, 1923 Approximately 1,200 employees of the Kansas City Southern and members of their families were on the train of 17 cars which left Pittsburg bound for the K. C. S. northern division picnic at Sulphur Springs, Ark., today. The train of one baggage car and 16 coaches left at 6:30 o’clock, to be at Sulphur Springs shortly after 9:30. It was thought the Pittsburg delegation would be by far the largest to attend.
