Excerpted stories in Crawford County newspaper archives 100 Years Ago Aug. 18, 1923 The 10-day-old order of the district board of the United Mine Workers placing mine No. 17 of Jackson-Walker Coal & Mining Co. on the unfair list was withdrawn this morning and more than 250 miners employed there ordered to resume work. The action was arranged by the union’s international executive board after questioning of the order under the union’s constitution.
