Excerpted stories in Crawford County newspaper archives 100 Years Ago Aug. 30, 1923 Members of a Kansas City, Mo., booster party promised assistance in procuring a hard surface road to connect Kansas City and the Ozarks through Pittsburg, at the solicitation of A. H. French, general manager of the Jefferson Highway association, who delivered the principal address at a reception and dinner for the Missouri city visitors at the Country club last night. Two Ford cars, one known to have been stolen in Wichita, March 10, and the other without a number on its engine, have been seized from mechanics working for De Lappe Motor Co. here and one of the mechanics was also being held today. That mechanic said he had purchased the car from a man in Arkansas City sometime in March and denied that he had reason to believe that it was stolen property.
