Excerpted stories in Crawford County newspaper archives 100 Years Ago Nov. 29, 1923 “The Birth of a Nation,” after 10 years of disbarment from exhibition in Kansas today was passed by the state board of motion picture review with certain eliminations. The film was barred in two administrations, those of Governors Capper and Allen. R. G. Liggett, president of the Kansas organization of motion picture owners, and others had objected to exhibition of the film on the ground that it might inspire race prejudice.
