Excerpted stories in Crawford County newspaper archives 100 Years Ago Sept. 5, 1923 One of the largest crowds ever assembled in Scammon on Labor Day was on hand to witness the all-day shoot that was put on by the Scammon Gun Club. While there was a long line of shooters, the crowd of visitors gathered to witness the contest between the men of sight and trigger, was much larger. Each visitor came to win money and prizes offered on the side by merchants and businessman of the town.
