100 Years Ago May 13, 1922 Welcomed by capacity audiences at his every appearance, Pittsburg paid loyal welcome in a great demonstration yesterday for Hanford MacNider, national commander of the American Legion. The man who leads an influential organization of 11,000 posts and more than 1 million men was greatly impressed by the tribute which he declared was paid to the ex-service men who preserved America’s traditions. Damages of $5,000 are claimed in the petition of Hal J. Neifing, at present a teacher in the commercial department at the Senior High school, against John F. Bender, superintendent of schools, filed in the district clerk’s office yesterday.
