Excerpted stories in Crawford County newspaper archives 100 Years Ago Sept. 27, 1923 Coupled with the call for the first rehearsal on Oct. 1 of the chorus for the Teachers’ College music festival, which begins the week of April 21, Prof. Walter McCray today announced that composer Carl Busch of Kansas City, will appear as guest conductor and that one of the choral numbers to be given will be Mr. Busch's “The American Flag,” a musical setting for Drake’s famous poem of patriotism. The annual home coming celebration will open at McCune tomorrow with an exhibit of agricultural products and a display of articles from the home economics and textile fabrics classes of the high school. Athletic events, a carnival and a stock company will add amusements, and the Parsons band will furnish music.
